SCHOOL COURSE CATALOG


The time element involved for each course is approximately 40-50 clock hours. This depends on the candidate’s own personal academic skills.

 

Final examinations are closed book and require a proctor to ensure the integrity of the training except where otherwise listed.

F101 - Creation Therapy

 

Creation Therapy is the core course of the FEED MY SHEEP SCHOOL OF COUNSELING Certification program. The candidate will be provided an in-depth understanding of the theory of temperament and acquire knowledge of the scientific and biblical basis for Christian counseling. The course introduces the five temperaments and helps the student develop confidence in using the Arno profile system as a diagnostic tool. This is a nine week course.

Additional Requirements:  

Student is required to complete an Arno Personal Profile.

Student begins 6 hours of mentoring and supervision

Students are required to join the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counselors                

F102 - Basic Christian Counseling

This course will include four hours of instruction on DVD. The instructor will provide the student with an overview of the “Big Eight” (types of secular counseling/therapeutic methods). The student will be taught the difference between Christian and secular counseling, goals, tech­niques, and the dangers and pitfalls of counseling.  This is a four week course followed by a fifth week for a psychodrama incorporating some of the Big Eight therapeutic methods.

Course Requirements:       

Approximately 10 clock hours          

Pass a proctored final exam

F103 - Christian Counseling: Integrating Temperament and Psychology

 

This course is approximately 135 pages in length. The student will be introduced to the theory and practice of biblically based Christian psychology and counseling. This course is intended to be an overview of various elements and theories and how they relate to Temperament Therapy. The student will receive general information on historical systems of psychology, counseling, Biblical theories of counseling and the utilization of the Arno Profile System counseling model.

 

Course Requirements:       

Approximately 45 clock hours

Pass one proctored exam

F104 – Quality, Ethics, and Legal Issues in Christian Counseling

The student is trained in the legalities of working with clients.  This course clarifies what are appropriate and what are not appropriate counseling techniques.  It also outlines the different legal issues common to this practice.

 

Course Requirements:       

Approximately 35 clock hours

Pass a proctored exam

F201 - Mastering Pastoral Counseling

This course is approximately 225 pages in length. The candidate will receive specific information regarding stress, anger and guilt with an emphasis on the need to develop family relationships. This course utilizes the N.C.C.A.’s counseling model, Temperament Therapy. Suggested time limit fourteen weeks

Course Requirements:        

Approximately 36 clock hours

Pass one proctored exam

F202 - Counseling the Codependent

 

This course is approximately 160 pages in length and is accompanied by a study workbook. The candidate will receive specialized training regarding codependency, which incorporates the counseling taught by the N.C.C.A. Suggested time limit twelve weeks.

 

Course Requirements:        

Approximately 35 clock hours

Pass one proctored exam

F203 - Temperament Case Studies

 

This course is approximately 154 pages in length. The candidate will learn first-hand the counseling model used by the N.C.C.A. members and gradu­ates. These case studies utilize the counseling model taught by the N.C.C.A. and also incorporate other testing instruments. Suggested time limit twelve weeks

Course Requirements:        

Approximately 35 clock hours

Submit one case study following the course format

F204 - Ministry Course

A recognized credential for ministry is required for Certified Pastoral Counselor or Licensed Pastoral Counselor designations. This course is designed for the student who does not hold that credential. Licensed or Ordained ministers may opt out of this course.

 

Course Requirements:       

Write three book reports on required reading  

20 hours volunteer work

Applicant must hold a Master’s degree or higher, be licensed by NCCA and be Advanced Certified in Crisis and Abuse Therapy. Student must then complete the following five courses:

  • Counseling and Self - Esteem
     

Group Therapy

 

Must hold Master’s degree or higher, be licensed by NCCA and be Advanced Certified in Integrated Marriage & Family Therapy. Must then complete one additional course
